Caring for others takes a toll…

At some point, we all come across a call, or case, or incident that we just can’t stop thinking about.

The movies highlight the most obvious events such as gunfights, horrific and tragic events, or even the loss of a friend or colleague in the line of duty.

But let’s face it… often, the things that bother us the most are seemingly small and not readily apparent to others.

Persistent thoughts we can’t escape…

Caring for a child who was just orphaned when his parents were killed in a car wreck.

Seeing a dirty old toy being carried around by a victim of child sexual exploitation.

The weight of guilt when we couldn’t get that last family member from the home before it collapsed in a fire.

These situations, and so many others, can take a toll on us.

Sometimes we struggle and fall. But that’s ok!

There is good news…

We don’t have to stay caught in the struggle!

Luckily for us, our brain is pretty good at keeping us alive. It adapts to its environment and finds creative ways to ease some of our stress and tension.

But negative coping, like infidelity, gambling, substance abuse, or excessive spending, can make matters worse.

Unchecked, these negative coping methods can lead to loss of your job, loss of your marriage, loss of relationships or friendships, and unfortunately… loss of life.

These negative effects do not have to be permanent.

In life, even a setback is a new start, with new possibilities.

There’s no shame in pursuing mental fitness.

Just like our physical fitness, pursuing increased levels of mental fitness and resiliency can help heroes and their families cope with the stress they face daily.

In many cases, heroes and their families struggle to get mental health support. Let’s face it, there’s still a stigma in these communities related to mental health.

Don’t let mental health issues keep you from living your best life.

Welcome to Operation True North

Cheri and Josh

Many military members and first responders are afraid to seek help for fear that it will negatively impact their career.

At Operation True North, we understand this fear because we come from those communities.

The reality is that getting mental health support isn’t what negatively impacts careers. Not getting the support and doing something stupid or illegal while trying to cope on their own is what ruins careers.

I’ll say that again… Not getting help and doing something stupid while coping in negative ways is what ruins careers.

Don’t be that person.

More About Us

Get help now and live the life you deserve.

For those who do want care, the demanding work schedules of the hero community often conflict with the rigid office hours found in many mental health settings.

At Operation True North, we are built for them, by them. We set out from the beginning to overcome barriers to care just like these.

We use a telehealth platform called eVisit to allow you to meet privately with your counselor from anywhere you have a cellphone or Wi-Fi signal.

No need to take time off work to get the help you need.

We can set up appointments that work best for your schedule!

What does that mean?

If you are a military member stationed in Colorado, you can see your counselor from the comfort of your couch at home station or your bunk in Afghanistan.

If you are a police officer, you can see your counselor at 0200 while in your cruiser on your lunch break if that is the best time for you.

If you are a firefighter and stuck at the firehouse for three days, you can see your counselor between calls.

And so on…

Be proud of your service and happy in your life.

At Operation True North, we hire our team from hero communities.

Every member has either served directly in one of the hero communities, was the spouse of a hero, or the child of a hero. We do this on purpose.

Our goal is to build a service designed for heroes by heroes.
